F1: Bortoleto finishes in 11th place in TL2 of the Hungarian GP

Gabriel Bortoleto finished the day of the Formula 1 Hungarian GP this Friday (24) in 11th position. In the second free practice, the Audi competitor set a lap of 1min20s747.

For the second practice of the day, already at a time similar to qualifying, the weather was sunny, but slightly cloudy. On the thermometer, it was 24ºC, while the asphalt was at 32ºC and humidity at 30%.

Once the practice started, Bortoleto didn’t take long to leave the pits for the first installation laps. When he completed his first timed lap, on hard tires, he placed sixth, 2s2 behind Lewis Hamilton, the fastest in the initial minutes.

As the session progressed, the Audi driver was dropping down the standings, appearing in tenth position with just over 15 minutes completed. His time was just over 2s slower than leader Hamilton.

With just under 40 minutes remaining until the checkered flag, Bortoleto was in the pits. At this moment, he was in 12th position with a time of 1min21s632 – in comparison, Nico Hülkenberg was eighth.

Almost half of the session was completed when a red flag appeared. The reason was a crash by Franco Colapinto, who hit the protection wall at turn 14 – at this moment, the Brazilian from Audi was in 15th.

Practice resumed with 25 minutes remaining. Bortoleto didn’t take long to leave the Audi garage to make the most of the track time. The competitor continued on hard tires and had already completed ten laps.

Appearing only in 17th position, Bortoleto finally put on soft tires with just over 16 minutes remaining until the checkered flag. When he completed his lap, despite it not being a clean lap without issues, he placed 11th, 1s7 behind Hamilton, who was first, and just under 0s3 behind Hulkenberg, who was ninth.

Immediately after completing that lap, Gabriel returned to the Audi pits and remained stopped for some time before returning to the track for a race simulation.

Checkered flag at Hungaroring and the Brazilian finished the day in 11th position, 1s745 behind Hamilton, the leader. His fastest lap time was 1min20s474.
