Formula 2 begins its 2026 season this weekend, as the category heads to Australia for the first round of the year, scheduled for the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. Current Formula 3 champion, Rafael Câmara is ready for his debut in the most important feeder series to Formula 1.

The Brazilian, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, will compete in F2 for Invicta Racing, the drivers’ champion for the last two years. In the pre-season collective testing sessions, Câmara was the fastest on two of the three days at the Circuit de Barcelona, in Spain. The driver admits it is not easy to be prepared with few practice sessions available, but recalls his brief track record in Melbourne, where he secured a victory last year in F3.
“Expectations are high for Melbourne. It’s not easy to be ready with just a few days of testing, but we are following our plan. Every time I went out on track, I learned something. So everything is fine and I hope it will be the same in Australia. I have a good track record in Melbourne after being in a similar situation last year as a rookie in F3. That weekend ended with me winning the feature race, so I hope that’s a good sign,” said Rafael Câmara.

The F2 schedule in Australia will open this Thursday (5), when the only free practice of the weekend takes place. In the early hours of Friday, there will be qualifying. Both races are scheduled for Saturday, with the Sprint at 0:10 and the main race at 21:25. Sportv and F1TV will show all track sessions.
