Following the closure of the Carrera class, the timing session for the Challenge class began. As soon as the clock started in Portimão, the drivers did not take long to leave the pits for the initial 20 minutes.

Enrico Pedrosa and Landi had set the first fast lap, but the duo lost the time for crossing the pit exit line, strictly prohibited by regulations.
With almost 10 minutes of timing started, Caio Castro had the best momentary time by recording 1min50s064. The driver was followed by Nicholas Garfinkel and Raphael Bernardes completing the top-3.
During the session, Garfinkel took the lead, with Caio appearing in second place 0.4s behind the leader, followed by Sadak Leite, but with a lap to serve for cutting the pit lane line.

The time to beat at this first moment was 1min49s148, with the first to fourth place being within the same second – the fourth was Ramos.
Nicholas was slow on the track, but soon regained speed. Shortly after, the session ended and Garfinkel managed to have the best time of group 1.
After a waiting time, pits opened and track opened for the second batch of competitors. Then, the engines quickly started roaring at the Algarve circuit.
Then, when attempting a fast lap, Yuri Alves lost the rear, spun and got stuck in the gravel trap, unable to get out by himself. Shortly after, red flag and session stopped.
It did not take long for the green flag to resume the session in Portugal and Victor Tieri, Garfinkel’s teammate, completed his first attempt and soon took the lead with 1min48s2. Next were Enrico Pedrosa and Danilo Dirani.
Garfinkel/Tieri had the provisional pole position of the Challenge, but Leite/Carbone were determined to take the honor position on the duo’s grid.
