F2: Rafael Câmara wins pole position with a flying lap in Monaco

Driver Rafael Câmara, who defends the Invicta Racing team, achieved his first pole position in Formula 2 this Friday (5). The position of honor was obtained on the circuit set up in the streets of Monte Carlo, Monaco, which hosts the fourth round of the 2026 season. In one of the most competitive qualifying sessions, with drivers divided into groups, the Brazilian recorded 1min20s923 on his best lap and was not surpassed by his rivals.

Qualifying was dramatic for the current Formula 3 champion, as after touching the guard rail, he had to take the car to the pits for adjustments. After repairs, Câmara returned to the track and, on his last fast lap, took the lead in his group. With no other rival beating his mark in the group that closed qualifying, the Brazilian celebrated pole position on the 3,337-meter circuit.

“On the first lap, I tried to understand the grip of the track. But we managed to stay calm and ensure I would give my all on the last lap. I was lucky too, because we managed to do a lap and the tires were ready for a final attempt. We did a good lap,” commented Rafael Câmara, right after qualifying.

“I didn’t expect to get pole. Of course, I was trying to do my best at that moment, trying to maximize every corner without thinking too much about where we would be. And the car was perfect,” added the Brazilian, who is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy and the only one to lap in the 1min20s range.

The Formula 2 schedule will feature the Sprint race this Saturday (5), starting at 9:15 AM. The main race will be held on Sunday, at 4:25 AM. Sportv, Globoplay, and F1TV will show both races.
