The Government of the State of Goiás, through the Goiana Agency of Infrastructure and Transport (Goinfra), announced this Wednesday (3) that the Ayrton Senna International Circuit, in Goiânia (GO), will have its asphalt completely replaced. The circuit, which was closed for the entire 2025 and hosted the MotoGP Brazilian GP at the end of March, will remain closed for at least 120 days for paving work to be carried out. According to the schedule revealed this afternoon at a press conference held at the Ayrton Senna International Circuit, two weeks will be needed for milling the track, another week for calibration and testing, and another four weeks for the new paving. During this period, the sports venue will be completely closed. Afterwards, the asphalt will undergo a curing period that will take eight weeks.

The circuit in the capital of Goiás was reopened with the Brazilian MotoGP round, which faced problems such as flooding on the eve of activities and a hole that opened on the track on Saturday, delaying the schedule. The asphalt wear, which began to come loose, caused the main category race of the Motorcycle World Championship to have its duration reduced.

More recently, Stock Car also held a round in Goiânia, with coverage on the points that presented problems during the MotoGP passage receiving repairs. However, during the races, new pavement wear occurred. According to the Government of Goiás, the work, which will be done as emergency maintenance, aims to keep the circuit fit to receive MotoGP. There are imperfections in a section of turn 6 of the track.

The work at the Ayrton Senna International Circuit will not have costs to the public coffers, according to the state government. The repairs on the circuit located in the capital of Goiás will occur through the activation of the warranty made with the company responsible for the work. In the renovation carried out between 2025 and 2026, the administration led by Ronaldo Caiado invested about R$ 250 million. The expectation is for reopening in October.
