Even with the spotlight on the dispute between the Mercedes drivers and Kimi Antonelli’s winning streak, Montreal also served as a reminder of the historic confrontation between Hamilton and Verstappen. The two starred in an intense 2021 season, decided only on the last lap in Abu Dhabi, when Verstappen won his first world title after an extremely controversial ending.

The Dutchman has already highlighted the consistency and success of the Brit, while Hamilton recognized the speed, maturity, and dominance of his rival in modern Formula 1. The rivalry remains alive, but now accompanied by evident respect between two drivers who know what it is to reach the top of motorsport.
