The Mercedes driver has been the big name of the championship: of the five races held so far, he has won four consecutively, maintaining a wide lead of 43 points over his teammate George Russell.
Speaking on the post-F1 program at the Canadian GP, the 1997 champion warned the young Italian about his situation. “He needs to keep a cool head and not get carried away by his own excitement. That is very dangerous,” he said.

” When you think you are unbeatable, that’s when mistakes happen, and you end up retiring from the race, like [Russell] today, or have an accident, lose 25 points, the difference changes a lot and, suddenly, you start doubting yourself. So, that is the big risk. At the moment, he is driving on the limit every lap, to the point where you think: ‘Wow, he is managing to keep the car on the track,’ things are going well, everything works out,” he continued.
“But it won’t always be like that. So, how will he react when something goes wrong? That will be the crucial question. But, right now, he is faster than George. He is ahead. The important thing for the team is that George wakes up a bit and starts believing in himself again,” he concluded.
