Vice-leader of the Formula 2 championship, Rafael Câmara was one of the highlights of the qualifying session that defined the starting positions for the third stage of the championship, held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada. On this Friday (22), the Invicta Racing driver recorded the second-best time right after the clock reset, securing a place on the front row for Sunday’s race.

The driver, who is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, led most of the qualifying this afternoon, and after seeing Invicta work on the car in the final moments of the session that defined the starting positions, Câmara returned to the track and secured a place on the front row. The Brazilian is also the driver who starts furthest ahead among the top-3 in the championship.
“It’s a good start. This is a track that is not easy, with many bumps. Especially in free practice, we were surprised, even after doing simulator work. During the session, we needed to change the car setup and understood what to do for qualifying to start off on the right foot. The start was good, and then I had a touch on the wall, but the team did a great job fixing everything and we managed to do a good lap to start at the front on Sunday,” said Rafael Câmara, right after qualifying.

Formula 3 champion in 2025, Câmara is in his first season in the main feeder category to Formula 1. At the start of his journey, the Brazilian has competed in two double rounds, reaching the podium in two races, both in main events. Thus, Câmara has 34 points, one less than the championship leader.
The races that make up the Canadian stage of Formula 2 will take place starting this Saturday (23), first with the Sprint, scheduled for 3:10 PM. The main race is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05 PM. Sportv, Globoplay, and F1TV will broadcast the double round live.
