MotoGP defined on this Friday (15) the ten riders who will advance directly to the final qualifying phase for the Catalonia GP, the sixth round of the 2026 season of the championship. The spots were decided in the second session of the day at the Barcelona Circuit, in Montmeló, which had the Spanish Pedro Acosta, a rider defending KTM, as the fastest with a time of 1min38s710.

The second classified was Álex Márquez, a rider defending Gresini, Ducati’s satellite team, who was beaten by only 0.018 seconds by Acosta. Brad Binder, with the other official KTM, also advanced directly to Q2 by setting the third best time of the session. Raúl Fernández, a Trackhouse rider, was the best rider with an Aprilia by being the fourth fastest, while Johann Zarco, with an LCR Honda, secured fifth place.
The sixth classified was Fabio Di Giannantonio, a VR46 rider, Ducati’s satellite team. Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi was the seventh best and will also go directly to Q2 with Aprilia. Joan Mir, with an official Honda, Jack Miller, with a Yamaha from the Pramac team, and Fabio Quartararo, with an official Yamaha, complete the list of the top ten of the session that defined the riders who will advance to the decisive qualifying round.

Among the riders who will have to go through the initial qualifying phase are Francesco Bagnaia, who was only 12th with Ducati, just ahead of Ai Ogura, a Trackhouse rider who finished 13th. Jorge Martín, coming from a victory in France with Aprilia, recorded only the 17th time in the session that defined the qualifiers. Diogo Moreira, the only Brazilian on the grid, was 14th with an LCR Honda.
MotoGP continues the schedule in Barcelona this Saturday (16), first with a free practice at 5:10, and then with qualifying, scheduled for 5:50. The Sprint takes place on the same day, starting at 10:00. The Catalonia GP will be held this Sunday, starting at 9:00.
