For the first time in the 2026 season, both Aston Martin competitors received the checkered flag. This is a step forward after a complicated start to the championship with the team’s engine causing significant problems in the first three stages of the year.
Honda’s power unit caused vibrations in the chassis and was felt by the drivers. However, with Alonso and Stroll crossing the finish line, it is progress for the Japanese supplier.

“After the Japanese Grand Prix, I mentioned that HRC and Aston Martin worked hard to implement corrective measures,” said Honda’s chief engineer, Shintaro Orihara.
“We confirmed that they are working well and I would say the drivers gave us positive feedback, which represents good progress for Aston Martin and Honda. We completed a full race and also a sprint race without major reliability issues. That is good progress,” he commented.
