F2: Tsolov surpasses Van Hoepen in the final meters and wins Sprint in Miami

Nikola Tsolov won on Saturday (2) the Sprint of the second round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held at the Miami circuit, in the United States. The Bulgarian, a Campos Racing driver, started from the first position due to the reversed grid, engaged in a great battle with Laurens van Hoepen, and came out on top in the final meters by overtaking his rival.

Van Hoepen, with a Trident car, managed to take the lead on the final lap but finished second, just 0.170 seconds behind Tsolov. The podium also included Alexander Dunne, a Rodin driver who attempted an attack on the leaders on the final lap, finishing third. Nico Varrone, from Van Amersfoort, finished fourth, followed by Joshua Durksen, fifth with Invicta.

Martinius Stenshorne, driving a Rodin car, completed the race in sixth place, finishing just ahead of Gabriele Mini, seventh with MP Motorsport. The points zone also included Dino Beganovic, from DAMS. Noel León, with a Campos Racing car, was ninth, with Rafael Câmara, the current Formula 3 champion, in tenth with Invicta.

The race had no incidents but saw some retirements. One of them was Emmo Fittipaldi, who managed to place himself among the top 15 by overtaking Colton Herta but retired shortly after due to suspension problems. Kush Maini, Rafael Villagómez, and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak were the other drivers who did not finish the race.

The main F2 race in Miami will be held this Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.
