Jorge Martín won this Saturday (28) the Sprint of the United States GP, the third round of the 2026 MotoGP season. The Aprilia rider was in second for most of the time, but launched an attack on Francesco Bagnaia on the final lap at the Circuit of the Americas and managed the overtake in the final corners to come away with the victory in Austin.

Second place went to Bagnaia, the Ducati rider who took the lead at the start and remained in that position until the final moments, when he was eventually overtaken by Martín. Pedro Acosta, from KTM, took third place at the end of the ten laps of competition, with Enea Bastianini, on a Tech3 KTM, in fourth. Álex Márquez, on a Gresini Ducati, was fifth.
Luca Marini took the Honda to sixth place at the end of the race, with Ai Ogura, on a Trackhouse Aprilia, finishing seventh, just ahead of his teammate, Raúl Fernández, in eighth place. Johann Zarco, on an LCR Honda, completed the points zone in ninth place. Fermín Aldeguer, from Gresini, a Ducati satellite team, rounded out the top-10.
The only Brazilian on the MotoGP grid, Diogo Moreira retired from the weekend’s short race after suffering problems with his LCR Honda. The rider was unable to keep up with the other competitors during the four laps he was in the race.
The race featured several crashes. Marc Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio fell after an incident in which the Spanish Ducati rider missed the entry to a corner and knocked down the VR46 competitor. On the eighth lap, Marco Bezzecchi, championship leader and Aprilia rider, crashed while in second position. Álex Rins and Joan Mir were others who fell.

The Sprint in Austin began with Bagnaia taking the lead in the opening meters, with Pedro Acosta in second. Fabio Di Giannantonio dropped to third, followed by Marc Márquez. Joan Mir completed the top five group, while Diogo Moreira plummeted to 19th place at the start of the contest.

Still on the opening lap, Di Giannantonio and Márquez crashed after the Spaniard missed the corner entry. Both returned to the race, but far from the lead pack. In the back of the field, Moreira did not take advantage of the rivals’ crashes and remained in the same 19th position at the end of the second lap of competition in the Texas capital.
Bagnaia began to open a slight lead, but enough so that he was not threatened by Acosta, who was being pressured by Mir, and by the Aprilia duo, which had Jorge Martín in fourth and Marco Bezzecchi in fifth. At the start of the fourth lap, Martín overtook Mir to take third place, while Moreira went to the pits with a problem on his LCR Honda bike.
Still on the fourth lap, Martín moved into second after overtaking Acosta, who offered no resistance. The lead remained with Bagnaia, who had a 1.3 second gap over the Spaniard. Still in the lead group, Bezzecchi passed Mir and immediately launched an attack on Acosta, managing the overtake to take third place on the fifth of the ten laps of the race.
Bagnaia did not allow Martín to close the gap, and continued with a 1.3 second lead over the Aprilia rival. More than that, the Spaniard was eventually overtaken by Bezzecchi, his teammate, on the seventh lap, dropping to third place. The Italian, however, crashed on the following lap, leaving the race. Another who fell was Álex Rins, from Yamaha.
Back in second, Martín once again reduced the distance to Bagnaia, bringing the Italian’s lead down to one second on the penultimate lap. Joan Mir crashed with the Honda at the start of the final lap, while the Spaniard went on the attack against the race leader, managing the overtake to win and retake the championship lead. Bagnaia and Acosta completed the top-3 in Austin.
