Pedro Acosta was the fastest driver in the first free practice session for the Americas GP, the third stage of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the session held early Friday afternoon (27th) at the Circuit of the Americas in the United States, the Spanish KTM driver took advantage of his last fast lap to set 2min01s715, securing the best time.

Second place went to Fabio Di Giannantonio, a VR46 Ducati driver who finished 0s103 behind Acosta’s time. Jorge Martín, with an Aprilia, was third, ahead of Marc Márquez, fourth with a Ducati from the official team. The top five group in Austin also included Raúl Fernández, with a Trackhouse Aprilia.
Álex Márquez, who drives for Gresini, Ducati’s satellite team, was sixth best, with Luca Marini, from Honda, in seventh. Ai Ogura, with a Trackhouse Aprilia, closed the session with the eighth time, followed by Marco Bezzecchi, championship leader and Aprilia driver who finished ninth. Franco Morbidelli, with a VR46 Ducati, closed the list of the ten fastest.

The only Brazilian on the 2026 MotoGP grid, Diogo Moreira completed the activity with the 21st time with an LCR Honda. The session also featured the red flag being raised after a crash by Marc Márquez, who lost control of his Ducati Desmosedici GP26 at turn 10 of the American circuit. The driver was unharmed and returned to the track after the session resumed.
Starting at 5 p.m., the session will take place that will define the ten drivers who will advance directly to Q2 of the qualifying. Saturday will be marked by the third free practice, at 12:10 p.m., qualifying at 12:50 p.m., and the Sprint, which starts at 5 p.m. The Americas GP of MotoGP will be held this Sunday, also starting at 5 p.m.
