Arvid Lindblad was responsible for the first accident and red flag intervention during the Spanish GP weekend of Formula 1. On this Friday (11), in the second free practice, he crashed hard into the protective wall and interrupted the activities.

The expectation for F1’s debut at Madring was numerous crashes, especially due to the two days of testing done by Formula 3, which had 11 red flag interruptions. However, in FP1, no driver ended up involved in a crash.
But things were different in the afternoon session. Near the end of the activity, with just over 23 minutes to the checkered flag, the Racing Bulls driver lost the rear at turn 13 and couldn’t control it, crashing hard into the protective wall.

First, a yellow flag was shown, but then it turned red. A crane was sent to the track point to remove the competitor’s car, who fortunately managed to get out of the spot without major problems.
Right after the crash, Arvid apologized to everyone at Racing Bulls. “We’re happy you’re okay,” he heard in response.
