George Russell put Mercedes at the top of FP2 in Monza and prevented Ferrari from completely dominating Friday at their home race. The Briton set a time of 1:22.559 and finished ahead of Charles Leclerc, in a session that left the two separated by just over a tenth.

Leclerc recorded 1:22.679 and finished in second position, keeping Ferrari in the fight for the lead at the Italian circuit. Shortly after setting his best time, however, the Monegasque spun at turn 5 but managed to avoid hitting the barrier.
Kimi Antonelli completed the top three with 1:22.700, while Lando Norris was fourth, ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The McLaren driver arrives at the Formula 1 Italian GP weekend seeking his third consecutive victory.

Hamilton, who had finished FP1 in second, could not repeat the performance in FP2 and was only the fifth fastest. Oscar Piastri was sixth, followed by Arvid Lindblad and Oliver Bearman, while Max Verstappen had a more difficult session, complaining several times about the balance of his car and finishing ninth.
The activity went on without major interruptions, although the first corner continued to be a difficult point, especially in the braking zone.
