George Russell put Mercedes at the top of FP2 in Monza and prevented Ferrari from completely dominating Friday at their home race. The Briton set a time of 1:22.559 and finished ahead of Charles Leclerc, in a session that left the two separated by just over a tenth.

Leclerc recorded 1:22.679 and finished in second position, keeping Ferrari in the fight for the lead at the Italian circuit. Shortly after setting his best time, however, the Monegasque spun at turn 5 but managed to avoid hitting the barrier.
