Colton Herta had another problem in Monza, and now Cadillac is at risk of receiving a penalty. The team was summoned by the commissioners of the Italian Grand Prix of Formula 1, after a technical non-compliance was detected in the driver’s car during TL1.

Herta’s MAC-26 stopped after just twenty minutes of activity, prematurely ending his participation in the first session. According to the commissioners, the system responsible for disengaging the clutch did not work properly when the American took the car to the side of the track to abandon the session.
Cadillac will now have to present explanations to the commissioners before any decision is made about the case. The occurrence puts the team at risk of a penalty for this technical failure recorded during TL1.

There is a recent precedent for a similar infraction. Liam Lawson was found guilty of the same type of violation during TL1 of the Canadian GP, with his Racing Bulls car, and the team received a fine of thirty thousand euros, with twenty thousand euros suspended for twelve months.
The episode represents another setback for Herta on a complicated day. Even before the problem with Cadillac in Formula 1, the American driver had also suffered an accident during the Formula 2 practice.
