Aston Martin faced another disappointing session in the 2026 Formula 1 season. In Friday’s (21) Sprint qualifying at the Dutch GP, both Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso failed to advance from SQ1.

In Zandvoort, the Canadian will start from the penultimate row of the Sprint race after managing only 19th place, more than 3.8 seconds behind pole-sitter George Russell. “I think I could have done better today,” he said.
“We had difficulties with drivability and there were some other things that weren’t quite right, so we need to understand why. It’s very windy out there, but the situation is the same for everyone. We will analyze everything tonight, review the data, and try to make some improvements for tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, the two-time Spanish champion had a day to forget and is the last to line up on the starting grid. “Things seemed to be going well for us in Free Practice, but then we faced some drivability issues in Sprint qualifying and sometimes it was hard to brake the car,” he said.
“The rear wing also didn’t open, so we lost lap time because of that. We are still early in using Honda’s upgrade package, so we will try to better understand the situation during the Sprint,” he concluded.
