Promoted from Racing Bulls after his debut season last year, Hadjar managed to keep a smaller gap to Verstappen in qualifying sessions than the Dutchman’s former teammates. Hadjar admitted that he arrived at Red Bull aware of the challenge of sharing the team with Verstappen: “You arrive and know where you are, so I definitely had some doubts because it’s Max. It’s undeniable that he is great. There was a bit of doubt and pressure, but so far it has gone pretty much as I wanted,” he said.

The Frenchman also positively evaluated his own progress but highlighted that he still needs to improve race management: “I think my one-lap pace has been very good, but the way he manages races is on a different level. That’s what I’m focusing on and working on,” Hadjar concluded.
