Charles Leclerc has seemed lost in the 2026 Formula 1 season racing alongside Lewis Hamilton, as pointed out by the former engineer of the Italian team Rob Smedley.

The duo has been racing side by side since last year. After the seven-time world champion struggled with a campaign well below expectations where he did not achieve any wins, this championship has seen a turnaround – in 11 rounds, he has already won in Barcelona and been on the podium five times.
With this, the Briton appears in second place in the Drivers’ World Championship with a 31-point lead over his Monegasque teammate. “This is the first time in a long time that Charles’ teammate, as happened during that intermediate period in the first half of the race, had a significant advantage over him,” Smedley said on the High Performance Racing podcast.

“Charles was not happy with the car. I know they made changes to the vehicle, changed components of the braking system, types of materials and things like that. But it gave the impression that he was a bit lost, considering the experience he has and how good a driver he is,” he added.
