Birthday boy of the day, Nelson Piquet Jr. conquered on Saturday morning (25) the pole position of the fifth round of TCR South America and TCR Brasil at Autódromo Velocitta, in Mogi Guaçu (SP). The driver surpassed Raphael Reis in the final stretch of qualifying by just 0s064:

The qualifying started with the track still presenting some wet spots due to the rain that fell on Saturday morning.
The drivers went to the track to warm up their tires and then started their fast laps. Raphael Reis led the first minutes with 1min37s. But soon this time was beaten by Fabian Yannantuoni, who clocked 1min36s784. Then, Leonel Pernía took the lead with 1min35s581.
In the final stretch of Q1, the track evolved and the lead changed several times. Reis finished ahead with 1min34s156.

The drivers went out for the first warm-up and reconnaissance laps, as usual.
In the final five minutes, times started to appear, with Piquet Jr. putting himself in front with 1min33s146. The battle between him and Rapha Reis was tight, but Piquet managed to clock 1min33s058, staying 0s064 ahead of Reis.
