Lewis Hamilton evaluated his first half of the 2026 Formula 1 season with Ferrari, and acknowledged that there is still room for improvement. The seven-time champion classified his performance so far as only slightly above average.

The Briton is having a positive year in his second season with the Italian team, with the conquest of his first victory for the Scuderia, at the Spanish GP, in addition to other podiums. Currently, Hamilton occupies second position in the drivers’ championship, 45 points behind Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes.
Asked by GPblog about how he evaluates the first months of the season, Hamilton was direct in defining his performance: “Perhaps slightly above average,” said the Ferrari driver when analyzing his current moment.
Despite the gap to the championship leader, Hamilton assured that he is not worried about planning the rest of the calendar. The focus, according to him, is concentrated on enjoying each stage individually and extracting the maximum possible from the car.
“I’m not thinking about the second half, I’m just thinking about this next weekend, one race at a time. I’m trying to understand how I can maximize each weekend. Generally, I’m not thinking about the next ten races,” he stated.

In addition to evaluating his results, the seven-time champion also commented on the adaptation process to the current Formula 1 regulations. The category underwent changes that altered car characteristics, but Hamilton does not believe he faced greater difficulty than in other generations.
“I don’t think it’s particularly more rewarding for anyone. I don’t feel like I’ve had to make more adjustments than in any other era of cars,” concluded the experienced British driver.
Hamilton arrived at Ferrari early last year, seeking new challenges after a long career at Mercedes. Even with a competitive start to the 2026 season, the driver made it clear that he continues to work to improve his performance and better take advantage of opportunities in upcoming races.
