Max Verstappen stated that he is calm about his future at Red Bull Racing and in Formula 1, but made it clear that he does not yet have a definitive decision to announce. The four-time champion reinforced that his current focus is entirely on improving the car’s performance.

A year ago, Verstappen confirmed before the Hungarian GP that he would remain at Red Bull for the 2026 season. This time, the scenario is different, although the Dutchman commented on the situation before the race at the Hungaroring circuit.
Questioned by GPblog about his next steps, Verstappen stated that there is no news regarding his future: “I’m feeling good, and from my side, the reason I say there’s nothing to talk about is because nothing is happening,” he said.
He emphasized that his priority is to extract as much as possible from the current Red Bull car: “I’m just focused on trying to get the most out of the car, which is already complicated enough to deal with. That’s what I’m doing. This team is like a second family to me,” he continued.
Verstappen also explained that the goal is to better understand the equipment’s behavior and regain the competitiveness that led the team to achieve great results recently: “I’m trying to understand our car a little better, and of course, get back to winning,” he said.

The Dutchman assessed that Red Bull has shown gradual evolution in recent races. After finishing on the podium at Spa-Francorchamps, but without contending for victory, the Dutchman recalled that the team is still working to find more consistent performance.
“I think we’re just trying to understand the fundamentals of the car. On some weekends, performance was simpler to find. On others, we still had some issues to resolve, but it’s a growth trend,” he added.
Even with recent progress, Verstappen highlighted that the arrival of updates from rival teams could again alter the balance of the competition: “You have to wait and see when others come with big updates. Sometimes you have a good weekend, and then someone comes up with something new that gives two or three tenths, and everything looks different again. So, you have to take it race by race,” concluded the four-time Formula 1 champion.
