Argentine Leonel Pernía was the big name of the second race of the Cascavel stage of TCR South America, held last Sunday (29) at the Autódromo Zilmar Beux de Cascavel (PR). With a consistent performance, he secured an important victory to continue defending the title won in 2025.

“It’s an important victory. We did a great job as a team. Between one race and another, we completely changed the setup. Seba (Martino) knows the cars very well and we got it right. It’s very difficult to race like this because you need to balance performance and tire preservation. I’m very happy to have won, especially with the presence of many people from Honda Racing, and it was possible to feel that support.”
The battle for the lead was intense, with Joaquín Cafaro finishing in second place, just 1.518 seconds behind, followed by Camilo Trappa, who completed the podium with the Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Raphael Reis and Diego Ciantini rounded out the top five.

The first race of the day saw a victory for Cardoso, while Cafaro and Gianfratti completed the podium. Girolami and Erick Schotten rounded out the top-5. In the championship standings, Néstor Girolami leads with 96 points, followed closely by Trappa with 95, and Pernía himself, the current champion, with 94.
The next stage will be held on April 25 and 26 at the Autódromo de Interlagos, with the participation of guest drivers.
