Closing the Porsche Carrera Cup weekend, Silvio Morestoni delivered a great recovery drive at the Velocitta racetrack. The Santa Catarina native made 15 overtakes during the race, after starting at the back of the grid due to a penalty suffered in race 1.

The driver started this Sunday’s race in 35th position, but had a spectacular start and gained seven positions before the safety car came out on the first lap. In four laps, Morestoni had already gained 10 positions and, by lap six, had already reached 22nd position.
Maintaining the pace, Silvio managed to finish the race in 20th position overall and 9th in the Sport category. Considering the two races of the weekend, Morestoni made 24 overtakes in two races.

Morestoni’s next Porsche Cup commitment takes place on June 12 and 13, at the Le Mans round.

“My opinion is that I lost the chance to fight for victory in this second race because of a completely debatable penalty. A gigantic effort. In the first race I made 9 overtakes and 15 this time, to prove that I was well prepared, knew how to overtake and that I didn’t put any other driver at risk. It’s sad, but I think when we take a fall, the best thing we can do is know how to get up, face it and move forward. We cannot give up”.
