Brazilian driver competing in European motorsport, Matheus Ferreira completed the third round of the German Porsche Cup, held this Sunday (17) at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, with a sixth place. The GP Elite team driver had his first race in the rain since he started competing in the championship, and leaves the 7,004-meter circuit with a podium, after securing third place in Saturday’s race.

Matheus also secured fourth place on the grid on Saturday morning for the race that closed the round. With rain, the driver faced one of the toughest races and fought for a podium spot once again. At the end of the race, even with a sixth place, he was satisfied with his performance in the race and throughout the weekend.
“I am happy with the round. It was my first race in the rain, and it was tough. I started fourth and finished sixth. I felt like I was in a war inside the car because it was really difficult. I think I lacked a bit of pace compared to the other drivers, but we managed to show what we came for, and I know it was hard for the others to compete with me,” said Matheus Ferreira.
“I fought the entire race and was just a little short of securing a podium spot. We did a rain practice on Thursday and I was very fast, but the conditions change a lot here at Spa. We will analyze everything now, as next week is already Zandvoort. I don’t know what the weather will be like, but if it rains, we will be better prepared,” the driver added.

After the third round, Matheus Ferreira has accumulated one podium and four top-5 finishes in six races, and remains in fifth place in the German Porsche Cup championship, totaling 72 points.
The next round of the German Porsche Cup will be held this weekend at the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands. It will be the last round before Matheus’s debut in the Porsche Supercup, scheduled for Monaco.
