Formula 1 had a curious highlight at the 2026 Miami GP. Even without reaching the podium, Max Verstappen was elected Driver of the Day by the fans.

The result reflects a performance marked by recovery and dramatic moments, which caught the public’s attention throughout the race.
Starting from second position, the Red Bull driver crossed the finish line only in fifth place. Even so, his race stood out mainly for an episode right on the first lap, when he performed a full 360-degree spin and still managed to stay in the top 10.
From there, Verstappen fought intensely to remain competitive in a car that, at that moment, did not seem to have enough pace to fight with the leaders. The combination of control, aggressiveness, and recovery helped win the fans’ preference.

In the official vote, the Dutchman led with 26.3% of the votes. Kimi Antonelli appeared second, with 18.3%, followed by Charles Leclerc, who received 13.2%.
Franco Colapinto also caught attention and got 11% of the votes, while Lando Norris completed the top 5 with 9.2%.
Although not satisfied with the final result on the track, Verstappen ended up recognized for the spectacle provided during the race, securing another Driver of the Day award in his career.
