Felipe and Pipo Massa do the first activity together in Portugal

Special weekend for Felipe and Pipo Massa. Father and son will share the cockpit for the first time in the first endurance stage of the Porsche Cup in 2026, at the Algarve Circuit, in Portimão, Portugal. This Friday, Felipe and Pipo participated in the first practice together. They finished with the 12th best time (1min48s366) among the 26 cars of the Carrera Cup and sixth place in the Rookie category in the second optional official practice.

In one of those unusual situations that only sports can provide, Felipe stayed longer on the track to adapt to the car and the layout, since Pipo has more experience than his father behind the wheel of the Porsche #19 and on the Portimão track, where he raced last weekend.

“It was an interesting day, the first time I drove with Pipo. And I drove more than him to try to get the track layout and get a feel for the car. Pipo drove a little, just about three laps at the very end of the practice. This Saturday, we will drive more and try to improve the details to make a good qualifying,” said Felipe.

Pipo knows that this weekend alongside his father will be a rare chance to develop even more in his debut year in motorsport.

“It was a very good day to start the work. We made a lot of adjustments to the car, analyzed a lot of data. This Saturday, I will drive more than today and take advantage of this unique opportunity to share the car with my father, I will learn a lot and we will try to set a good average to qualify well.”

This Saturday, the drivers will have two more free practice sessions before qualifying, scheduled for 14:40 (10:40 Brasília time). The two-and-a-half-hour race, with the 26 Carrera Cup cars and 11 Challenge cars on the track at the same time, will be on Sunday at 12:10 (8:10 Brasília time).
