Freddie Slater secured pole position for the main Formula 3 race. In the qualifying session held this Friday (17) at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, the Trident driver and current championship runner-up recorded his best lap time of 2min05s150, securing the top spot for Sunday.

The front row will also feature Tuukka Taponen, MP Motorsport driver who was 0.251 seconds behind Slater. Hiyu Yamakoshi, driving a Van Amersfoort car, finished qualifying in third and will share the second row with Noah Stromsted, fourth with Trident. The third row will be formed by Ernesto Rivera from Campos Racing and Mattia Colnaghi from MP Motorsport.
Brazilian Pedro Clerot placed Rodin Motorsport in seventh position on the Sunday grid and will share the fourth row with Brando Badoer, his teammate. Championship leader Ugo Ugochukwu starts ninth with Campos Racing, while Theóphile Nael, from the same team, starts tenth. Taito Kato from ART Grand Prix and Jin Nakamura from Hitech complete the top 12, with Nakamura starting on pole in the Sprint. Fernando Barrichello was 26th with AIX.

When the session entered the final ten minutes, the red flag was shown due to an incident involving Noah Stromsted, who collided with Yevan David’s car. Hiyu Yamakoshi also crashed in a move that also involved Louis Sharp. The incident ended qualifying, securing Slater on pole position.
The Formula 3 schedule will continue this Saturday (18) with the Sprint, starting at 5 a.m. The main race is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 a.m.
