F3: Kato leads final day of testing in Austria. Clerot secures new top-10

Japanese Taito Kato was the fastest driver on the last day of the Formula 3 mid-season testing, held this Thursday (21) at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The ART Grand Prix driver led the first of the two sessions of the day on the Austrian circuit, recording his best lap time of 1min20s297, the best time of the batch, including Wednesday’s activities.

Taito Kato

The second position went to Louis Sharp, a Prema driver who finished 0.025 seconds behind Kaito’s time. Noah Stromsted, from Trident, had the third best time, finishing ahead of Tuukka Taponen, fourth with MP Motorsport. The list of the five fastest also included Freddie Slater, from Trident.

Brazilian Pedro Clerot, with a Rodin Motorsport car, ended the day with the sixth best time, followed by Hiyu Yamakoshhi, seventh with a Van Amersfoort car. Brando Badoer, Clerot’s teammate, was eighth, with Enzo Deligny, a Van Amersfoort driver, in ninth. Maciej Gladysz, from ART Grand Prix, was tenth.

Another Brazilian on the grid, Fernando Barrichello finished with the 30th time of the day with the AIX Racing car. The driver, however, recorded the fifth best mark of the activity that closed the mid-season testing batch, in a session led by Brad Benavides, his teammate, and which had Clerot with the 17th time. The best times this Thursday came in the first session.

After the testing batch, Formula 3 returns to action between June 4 and 7, when it goes to the circuit set up on the streets of Monte Carlo, Monaco, for the second round of the 2026 season.
