Kimi Antonelli stood out by leading the third free practice of the Monaco GP this Saturday (6) and even impressed Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. Despite the positive performance, the executive issued a warning to the 19-year-old Italian before qualifying in the Principality:

“That was a good session for Kimi, fast. Now we just need to keep building something for qualifying. Leclerc’s lap before he made a mistake at turn 10 was there or thereabouts, so it’s not going to be a walk in the park yet, but we are surprisingly positive,” Wolff told Sky Sports.
The Mercedes boss also revealed that Antonelli’s father, who is also a driver and directly participated in his son’s training, believes the youngster is already at his limit: “Kimi’s father is a driver and was part of what made Kimi who he is today, and if his father says he’s already well at the limit, that means: this far and no further!” he emphasized.

The team’s concern is to prevent Antonelli from pushing too hard on a street circuit like Monaco, where any mistake can result in an accident. Therefore, Wolff reinforced the importance of staying calm in qualifying. “I hope he can take that calmness into qualifying and make the car fly.”
