The qualifying session for the Miami Formula 1 GP had a surprise, with Max Verstappen securing second position on the starting grid. The result exceeded the driver’s own expectations after a difficult start to the season.

The performance represents a positive sign for Red Bull Racing, which had been facing competitiveness and car adaptation issues. Now, the Dutchman sees concrete progress after recent adjustments and equipment updates.
Verstappen explained that the evolution comes from two main factors, technical development and greater comfort behind the wheel: “The car wasn’t good in previous races, but I also didn’t feel comfortable with the setup. In recent weeks, the team worked hard to improve this, and it worked,” he said.

According to him, confidence returned along with the improvements: “I feel like I have more control of the car again, I can push more, and the updates are working. Being on the front row is much better than I expected,” he added.
Even with the progress, the driver remains cautious for Sunday’s race, especially due to problems at starts throughout the year and the possibility of heavy rain. Still, he showed optimism with the current scenario: “First we need to make a good start, I haven’t had many good ones this year. But I’m already happy with where we are, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel to keep improving,” he concluded.
