This third consecutive pole reinforces the young driver’s good form, but also highlights how small details can determine the outcome. A slip on the second attempt in Q3 almost compromised the dominant performance shown earlier.

Antonelli built his strongest lap right on the first attempt in Q3, opening a lead of more than three tenths over the competitors. Then, trying to improve the time, he locked the wheels in the first corner and had to abort the lap, leaving the result open until the checkered flag.

“It was an incredible day to be on pole again. But I was very stressed, just waiting for everyone to finish their laps. In the end, it was enough and I am very happy,” said the Mercedes driver, who saw only Max Verstappen get close, but without being able to surpass him.

Thinking about Sunday’s race, Antonelli highlighted the need to improve starts, after losing positions in the Sprint race this Saturday: “I hope the perfect start comes tomorrow. It would be good not to lose positions,” he concluded, keeping the focus on converting the pole into another strong result this weekend.
