Max Verstappen has once again taken a firm stance on Formula 1’s new engine rules, maintaining his determination to always drive at the limit, even if the car looks like a ‘shopping cart’.

The four-time F1 champion was one of the most vocal critics of the recent change in regulations, arguing that the category should prioritize a full combustion engine with sustainable fuel, instead of the current split between electric and mechanical power.
Even without being an enthusiast of the new rules, Verstappen highlighted that he will continue to extract the maximum from his car: “If I have to drive this car, last year’s, or if I have to race in a shopping cart, I take it to the limit of what a shopping cart can do. It’s as simple as that. At the end of the day, it has a brake pedal, accelerator, steering wheel, and clutch, and you drive to the limit,” the Dutchman stated.

The four-time champion also stated that the best competitors will always stand out, regardless of changes in regulations: “You try to adapt to what is necessary. That’s what we’re here for. That’s what we’ve trained for our whole lives. And the good drivers, of course, will always be ahead,” Verstappen added.
With the competitive debut of the new cars at the Australian GP this weekend, the Red Bull Racing driver’s message is clear: changes in the regulations will not alter his way of driving or his ambition to win.
