Max Verstappen finished the qualifying session for the Formula 1 Italian GP in sixth place and made clear his frustration with a problem that, according to him, has been accompanying Red Bull Racing for several years. The Dutchman said he knows where the difficulty lies but acknowledged that he cannot solve it directly.

Asked about the search for answers, Verstappen explained that the situation is not recent and ruled out that it is specifically related to a certain specification or update: “I know where the problem is, but I’m not an engineer to solve it. I’ve been dealing with it for years,” he said.
The Red Bull driver also explained that the car’s behavior can ease or worsen the difficulties, depending on the characteristics of the circuit and the driving style. According to Verstappen, when there is less passage over curbs, and consequently, fewer strong impacts, the problem bothers less: “They are trying to fix it, but it’s not working at the moment. Some weekends we suffer less, when we go over the curbs less and there are fewer moments with these strong impacts,” he said.

Despite the sequence of difficulties, Verstappen said he does not intend to adopt a negative stance and highlighted that he continues trying to get the most out of the RB22: “If this doesn’t work because something goes wrong every time, of course I get frustrated. On the other hand, you’re not fighting for the world championship, so you need to put that a bit into perspective,” he added.
The Dutchman also avoided assigning responsibility to a specific person within the team: “It’s a very big team. It’s simply a shame that, this season, many things just aren’t always right,” he concluded.
