Red Bull is still seeking its first podium in the 2026 Formula 1 season, but Max Verstappen showed confidence in the team’s future and praised the work done on the new engine project developed internally by the team in partnership with Ford. When commenting on the program’s progress, the driver highlighted the dedication of the team responsible for the power unit:
“It’s good, but the engine factory has been here for a few years,” Verstappen told the press. “The guys have worked hard to try to get to where we are now. I believe we are proud of the work we have done as the entire Red Bull team, and also, of course, of Ford’s contribution.”
Despite some initial problems recorded with the engine, the start of the project was considered positive internally. So far, the team’s biggest concerns have been more related to chassis performance than to the reliability of the power unit.
Even without significant results in the first races of the year, Verstappen believes the team can still improve throughout the season. “And that’s what we will try to improve, and, like everyone else in the paddock, try to be better every day,” he said.
The four-time world champion also reinforced his satisfaction with the current stage of Red Bull’s project. “But I am already very happy and proud of where we are. We will keep working to be better.”
Verstappen’s best result so far was fifth place at the Miami GP.
