Red Bull Racing could suffer another significant loss in Formula 1, with the possible departure of one of Max Verstappen’s main allies. Mechanic Ole Schack, a historical figure in the team, has reportedly resigned after more than two decades of work, extending the period of internal changes in the team.

According to reports, including information from PlanetF1, the Dane has already formalized his decision with the Milton Keynes team. If confirmed, the departure would represent the end of one of the longest careers in the category’s paddock.
Schack has been linked to the team since before the Red Bull era, back when the team competed under the Jaguar name. He was also present since Red Bull Racing’s first race in Formula 1, at the 2005 Australian GP, becoming one of the most experienced figures within the structure.
In recent years, the mechanic played an important role on Verstappen’s side of the garage. He directly participated in the Dutch driver’s most successful period, which saw him win four consecutive Formula 1 titles, consolidating Red Bull as one of the dominant forces in the category.
Discussions between Schack and the team are reportedly still ongoing, especially regarding the timing of his departure. The professional is said to be interested in seeking new challenges, while recent changes in the team’s internal environment have also reportedly influenced the decision.

This possible departure occurs at a time of transition within Red Bull. Since the end of 2025, the team has seen the departure of important names, such as consultant Helmut Marko, senior technician Craig Skinner and former chief mechanic Matt Caller, who also worked closely with Verstappen.
The changes also reached the team’s leadership. Christian Horner left the position of team principal in the middle of last season, being replaced by Laurent Mekies, who arrived after his stint at Racing Bulls. This set of changes contributed to the sense of instability within the organization.
On the track, Red Bull is also facing difficulties at the start of 2026. Persistent balance problems have hampered performance, leaving the team in only sixth position in the constructors’ championship after three rounds. Verstappen also had a start below expectations, scoring only twelve points and currently occupying ninth place in the drivers’ championship.
If confirmed, Schack’s departure will represent another significant loss for Red Bull, which is trying to reorganize amidst structural changes and a challenging start to the season.
