Yuki Tsunoda responded to rumors about his future and made it clear that his priority is still to remain in Formula 1. The Japanese driver, however, admitted that he does not intend to stay away from the tracks for long if he does not secure a seat for 2027.

Tsunoda returned to the grid last weekend at the Dutch GP after being called to replace Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls, who in turn replaced the injured Isack Hadjar at Red Bull Racing. This participation marked his return to racing after losing the Red Bull seat at the end of 2025, becoming a reserve driver for both teams this year, and he came close to scoring points in Zandvoort.
Reports published by Racer indicate that Tsunoda’s management team is considering a possible move to IndyCar. According to the American publication, representatives of the Japanese driver have spoken with nearly half of the teams in the category in the United States seeking alternatives for 2027.
When asked about the matter, Tsunoda preferred to leave negotiations in the hands of his manager: “It’s not my job to look at these things. I leave that completely to my manager, and my job is just to drive fast,” the Japanese driver told the press.

Despite the rumors, Tsunoda emphasized that his priority remains F1: “My mindset is always on Formula 1. My main goal is always to be racing in Formula 1 and to succeed. That will always be present, no matter what happens,” he said.
The Japanese driver acknowledged, however, that he does not intend to stay inactive for a long time: “I also don’t want to stay in the garage for two years. I want to drive,” he added. He continued, saying that if he does not find a seat for the next season, he will have to consider other categories, but stressed: “Until the moment I get on the track next year, my mindset will always be on Formula 1,” Tsunoda concluded.
