At McLaren, Oscar Piastri reinforced optimism about the evolution of the MCL40. The Australian believes the team is getting closer and closer to Mercedes, even admitting that the current championship leaders still have an advantage. According to him, the updates recently introduced helped reduce the gap and the team continues to seek more performance.
The day also had repercussions regarding Esteban Ocon’s future. Guenther Steiner said he believes the Frenchman risks leaving Haas at the end of the season if he does not show a significant reaction in the results. Additionally, Laurent Mekies once again defended a definitive solution for the debate about the 2027 engines, supporting the need to quickly end discussions about the category’s future regulations.
