Wednesday was busy in Formula 1, with the release of the 2027 calendar as the main news of the day. The next season will have 24 rounds, will start in Bahrain, and will feature a record ten Sprint races, as well as the returns of Portugal and Turkey to the championship.

For the Brazilian audience, the announcement brought an important novelty: the São Paulo GP will be held between November 5 and 7 and will once again host the Sprint. Interlagos will reach six editions of the short race since the format’s creation, remaining the circuit that has hosted a Sprint the most times in Formula 1.
The future of Madring also remained on the agenda after the problematic debut of the Spanish GP. Toto Wolff revealed that the organizers are already talking with the FIA about changes to the layout to improve overtaking, while Lando Norris suggested removing turns 18 and 19 and creating a longer straight to a hairpin. The first race had only four relevant overtakes after the initial lap.
Meanwhile, an unusual change in Formula 2 increased doubts about the conclusion of the 2026 season. The Baku round will have two qualifying sessions and two Feature Races, in addition to the Sprint. Officially, the expansion aims to make use of space in the schedule, but it occurs amid uncertainties about the final rounds planned for Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

At Ferrari, Fred Vasseur revealed that about 80% of the current development could be used in the 2027 project. The manager also stated that the team will continue working on the SF-26 and pointed out qualifying performance as an area that still needs improvement, despite considering the race pace competitive.
Max Verstappen also gained coverage with the new calendar. The 2027 dates do not conflict with the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and Spa, leaving the Dutchman free to compete in both races if he decides to participate. On Wednesday, he also won the “Max vs 100” challenge in Silverstone, beating 100 opponents after starting 101st.
