Lance Stroll’s retirement from Formula 1 is a topic constantly debated over the years, gaining more traction with the apparent fatigue of the Canadian alongside a complicated phase faced by Aston Martin at the start of 2026.

In his tenth season on the category’s grid, the competitor appears in the last position in the standings and has only finished the Miami GP so far. However, even going through a turbulent period, this does not affect his future.
“It’s not that we had predicted this. Everyone had been saying for a year and a half, or however long it has been, that everything that seemed like it was going to happen, the battery issue, removing them from the cars to recharge them and everything else, didn’t seem good at all, and now we simply have what we expected,” he explained.
“It is probably more frustrating for Aston Martin than for Mercedes at the moment. But F1 is like that. It is what it is. Hopefully it gets better,” he added.

When asked if 2026 could be his last year in Formula 1, he replied, “No, because I still have a lot of faith in this project and I believe we are still far from reaching our potential. Adrian [Newey] joined the team. We have the new factory and the new wind tunnel, as everyone knows.”
“I believe this team has a lot of potential and I want to be in it, see it, and be part of this team when we reach the point I believe we are capable of achieving. In two or three years, if I am sitting on the couch watching two green cars at the front of the pack and I am not part of it, I will be upset. So, I want to be part of it.”
