Andrea Stella is cautiously confident with McLaren in Miami at the Formula 1 stage. The executive showed optimism after the one-two finish of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in Saturday’s (2) Sprint.

The Woking team arrived almost with a new car this weekend with extensive updates after the five-week break during the forced April pause.
So, after Norris won dominantly and Piastri finished second in the Sprint, Stella is satisfied with the car but stated how the grid is still “quite close.”
“It’s good to bring updates so we can become increasingly competitive. It was important to confirm that the updates work as we saw yesterday in a single lap. Today, it was important to see them in race simulations and even in intense heat conditions,” he said.

“So, no one knew exactly what the degradation would be, but it seems the car maintained good characteristics in terms of degradation. Therefore, good signs so far, but everyone is very close. I think Lando may have benefited from being in the lead, with clean air, possibly whoever was first today could have won the sprint race,” he continued.
“I think everyone is close. And we will see more in a few hours in qualifying,” he added.
