George Russell revealed how he made major changes to his Mercedes during the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1 following the setup used by Kimi Antonelli and how this brought an “impact greater than imagined.”

The event was not ideal for the Briton, who finished only in fourth place. Meanwhile, his Italian teammate won and now increased the gap in the standings to 20 points.
Russell was honest about the difficulties of finding pace in Miami and explained that he made adjustments to the differential and brake balance in the final laps to get closer to Antonelli’s setup, and was impressed by the impact of these changes.

“A tough race. The start was even reasonable, to be honest, those first laps, in the fight, but then the hard tire simply didn’t work and I had some ideas, to tell the truth,” he told Sky Sports F1.
“The last 10 laps were much more competitive, I made quite significant changes to the differential and brake balance, getting much closer to what Kimi has been using throughout the weekend, and that had a bigger impact than I imagined, but still, as I said, it was not a good weekend.
