F1: Racing Bulls will have an important debut at the Canadian GP

Racing Bulls will have an important novelty at the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1 this coming weekend. Dan Fallows will make his first track appearance for the Italian team since officially taking over as technical director this season.

The arrival of the engineer is seen as a significant reinforcement for Racing Bulls at a time of technical evolution for the team. The team also confirmed that it will bring a new phase of aerodynamic updates to Montreal, raising expectations for a competitive performance in the points battle.

Fallows was initially hired by Aston Martin in 2022 but ended up leaving the technical director position at the end of 2024, after the below-expected performance of the AMR24. After a period working at Aston Martin Performance Technologies, he completely ended his ties with the company in April 2025.

Before his time at Aston Martin, the Brit worked alongside Adrian Newey at Red Bull Racing. In January 2026, he agreed to join Racing Bulls to replace Jody Egginton, who transferred to Red Bull Advanced Technologies. Fallows officially started his activities with the new team in April this year.

At Racing Bulls, the engineer reports directly to chief technical director Tim Goss, a McLaren veteran. Goss highlighted that the Canadian GP will present important technical challenges for the teams, especially because of the characteristics of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the 2026 regulations.

“The long straight sections of the circuit traditionally led teams to choose a rear wing setup with less downforce to reduce drag and prioritize top speed,” said Goss. According to him, the new active aerodynamic modes for straights have significantly changed this approach.

“With the 2026 regulations, using the straight mode of the active aerodynamic setups significantly reduces the drag level and, as a result, we maintain the standard level of the rear wing,” he said. The director believes this simplifies part of the engineering work, although there are still important challenges in the integration between chassis and power unit on different types of circuits.

Goss also expressed confidence in the work done by the team since the Miami GP: “Preparation for the race has gone well since Miami. The engineers worked on the data and we completed good simulator sessions with the drivers, both for circuit familiarity and for car setup and race pace optimization,” he added.

The director concluded by stating that Racing Bulls expects to take a step forward in Montreal with the new aerodynamic package: “We are bringing the next phase of aerodynamic updates, and we are confident this will allow us to improve our performance to fight firmly for points this weekend,” he concluded.
