Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are in the spotlight due to Aston Martin’s poor start to the 2026 Formula 1 championship. However, Mike Krack, the team’s track chief, emphasized the importance of protecting the drivers from criticism of the team at the start of the championship.

Alongside Cadillac, the British team has yet to score any points in the first four races of the season. Not only that, the Miami GP, the fourth race of the year, was the first in which both competitors managed to cross the finish line.
There are many factors dragging Aston Martin down, such as the large vibrations in the chassis, a point that has been addressed, and the low competitiveness of the Honda engine according to the new F1 regulations.

Therefore, speaking about the situation, Krack highlighted how essential it is to shield the duo from criticism. “The drivers are the ones who need protection the most, because we ask them the same question every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and the following week, again,” he said.
“So, for them, it is extremely difficult to be repetitive and always give the same answer. We need to protect them from that, because they accumulate this frustration from always being at the back of the pack,” he added.
