Racing Bulls did not come away completely satisfied from the Sprint qualifying for the Miami GP of Formula 1. Arvid Lindblad even spoke about the team’s competitiveness, but Liam Lawson lamented the problems in the session.

The Brit advanced to SQ2 and after completing nine laps, will start 16th. Evaluating the first competitive session of the weekend, he acknowledged that there is still much to analyze to gain more performance.
“After a difficult FP1, SQ1 went well and the car was performing well. I gave it my all on that last fast lap, but things didn’t come together in SQ2. We still have a lot to analyze. We had some brake issues and some minor problems, which made the car difficult to drive, so being competitive now is a relief. A big thank you to the team for fixing things so quickly between sessions. We will analyze where we went wrong today and look to improve tomorrow,” he said.

Meanwhile, the New Zealander could not get past SQ1. With a time of 1min31s043, he will start only 17th, wanting to understand the cause of the problems. “A series of unfortunate events in SQ1 meant we didn’t have the Sprint Quali we expected today,” he pointed out.
“We lost the position leaving the pits, which made us fall further back on the track, and we also didn’t have a good exit lap. Then, I had a flat spot on the tire and destroyed it on the first lap, and driving on the second lap with the damaged tire caused a lot of vibrations. The car has improved since this morning, so we will take the positives into tomorrow,” he concluded.
