Formula 1 may face a completely different scenario at the 2026 Miami GP. With heavy rain forecasted, Oscar Piastri already expects a race full of uncertainties.

The McLaren driver highlighted that the weather can completely change the balance between teams. With no wet track races so far this season, the performance of the cars in these conditions is still unknown.
Piastri will start from seventh position after a difficult qualifying and believes that Sunday will require quick adaptation. In a humorous tone, the Australian summed up the challenge: “I think I’m going to need to build some oars.”
The driver emphasized that the rain can completely shuffle the result. “If it’s wet, that’s going to change a lot. No one has really driven these cars in the rain and no one knows exactly how they will behave. I hope we’re on the right side of that,” he said.

According to Piastri, the biggest concern is not just the driving, but the behavior of the car itself. “It’s going to be difficult. In terms of driving, it shouldn’t be that different, but everything depends on how the power unit delivers power, where and when that happens, and that’s in the hands of the electronic system,” he explained.
He also pointed out that the risk increases significantly in these conditions. “The margin for error when it’s wet is much smaller,” he added.
With a wet track forecast and technical variables still unknown, the Miami GP promises an unpredictable scenario, where adaptation and strategy could be decisive for the final result.
