Sergio Perez returns to Formula 1 as a regular driver this weekend at the Australian GP, now wearing Cadillac colors, and spared no criticism of his former team, Red Bull Racing. The Mexican highlighted that his technical feedback is more valued at the new American team, which is making its debut in the category.

After a year out of F1 in 2025, Perez explained that he needed a break after the difficult season alongside Max Verstappen in 2024: “Obviously, the last six months of my journey with Red Bull were complicated in every aspect, and I felt I needed a break. There were things that, from the outside, were not visible, and became clearer after I left. But I also had great moments with Red Bull,” he stated.
The return to the category through the Cadillac project brought new spirit to the Mexican: “I’m really enjoying my time with Cadillac and looking forward to this journey together. I think there is a lot of promise in the whole project. It’s something long-term, but I believe it can be very successful. Being part of something new gives me motivation,” he added.

The American team bet on an experienced driver duo, with Perez and Valtteri Bottas, both veterans in the category, to accelerate the car’s development through technical feedback. The Mexican highlighted that his contribution has been more recognized than at Red Bull: “Yes, definitely. I feel that the way the car is being developed and the way we are moving in the same direction helps a lot. And my feedback is much more appreciated,” he completed.
With this new phase, Perez starts his season with Cadillac motivated and focused on contributing to the evolution of a completely new project in Formula 1.
