Lando Norris spoke about McLaren’s participation in this week’s Pirelli tests. The 2025 Formula 1 champion pointed out how the days on track were a useful learning opportunity for the MCL40.

The British team and Mercedes took part in two days of activities at Nürburgring, marking the first time current category cars have run on the German circuit since the 2020 Eifel GP.
Norris and Oscar Piastri completed only 66 laps on the first day, with last year’s champion adding another 108 laps on Wednesday and setting a lap time of 1min33s640. In tests with the tire supplier, teams have restrictions in terms of car setup, with plans dictated by the Italian brand.

Speaking about the tests, Lando told PlanetF1.com that “this test was very productive for us over these two days. The goal was to help Pirelli in developing their tires for the future and we provided as much detailed feedback as possible. It had been a while since we last raced here at Nürburgring, so it’s great to be back on track.”
“I’ve raced here in practically every category, so it’s cool to be able to drive here in this era of Formula 1 cars. After having a bit of a lack of track time at the start of the season, it was good to get back behind the wheel. Sessions like this, even if they are not to test our own upgrades, provide learning opportunities that are useful for us to progress this season. Now it’s time to regroup at home and prepare for Miami,” he added.
