Lando Norris left the Miami Formula 1 GP with more confidence in McLaren’s future. After a quiet start to the 2026 season, the team showed strong progress last weekend.

The result in Miami marked an important turnaround, after difficulties in the early stages, which included three retirements in the first two races. The more competitive performance indicates that the team can return to fighting for higher positions on the starting grid.
Norris won the Sprint race and finished second in the GP, while his teammate, Oscar Piastri, secured third place. The Briton highlighted that it would be strange not to believe in the team’s progress after the evolution shown: “Definitely. It would even be strange not to feel confident after we evolved so much this weekend,” he said.

Despite the optimism, Norris noted that the Miami circuit favored the McLaren car. He also recalled that Mercedes remains strong and may have an advantage in the next round: “We know it’s a track that suits us, but Mercedes was still very fast. In Canada, they have been the best in recent years, so we need to wait and see,” he added.
Even with planned updates, Norris avoided any excessive excitement: “In Formula 1, it’s easy to judge everything by just one race. We need to see how we perform on different tracks, conditions, and styles. We had a great weekend and I’m very proud of the team, but we need to keep evolving,” he concluded.
