The Miami Formula 1 GP marked Allan McNish’s debut in his new role at Audi. The manager took command of the team’s track operations for the first time.

It was a weekend with positive signs in terms of pace, but also frustrations in results. Despite showing speed in fast laps, Audi again failed to convert performance into points due to reliability issues with both cars.
Even so, McNish showed enthusiasm for the new challenge: “It was good. I live to race. I’ve been doing it since I was eleven, it’s what I love, what motivates me, it’s my passion,” he said. He reinforced the connection with the category’s environment: “This environment is my life, my career, my hobby. It’s good to be here.”

The former driver, who took the position after Jonathan Wheatly’s departure, also commented on the intensity of the track chief role: “I am more nervous now than at any other time before,” he joked. According to him, the role goes beyond track operations, involving different areas of the team, including marketing and communication activities.
McNish also highlighted that Audi has experience in various sectors but acknowledged the need for evolution. He pointed out that many challenges are not only in the direct race operation but in other aspects of the project. The manager also mentioned the complexity of the weekend in Miami, with multiple activities happening simultaneously, indicating that he is still seeking to adjust the balance within the new role.
